Dextrose- Dextrose (aka glucose) is glucose sugar refined from cornstarch. Dextrose is a sweetener and an available source of energy. It is produced by the enzyme conversion of cornstarch and then refined by ion-exchange demineralization. It is a commonly used sweetener.
It is a simple sugar (carbohydrate) and has one molecule of water; which is known as a mono molecule.
Effects of to much: By consuming too much glucose your glucose level putting you at risk for hyperglycemia (aka high blood sugar), which is excess glucose associated with diabetes mellitus. Symptoms of hyperglycemia include dehydration, drowsiness, and frequent urinating. If hyperglycemia is not treated it can lead to worse things like diabetes ketoacidosis which can lead to death or unconsciousness.
Molecule chemical interaction: Dextrose is one of the heat origin for the human body. Heat can be produced from one gram of dextrose, so dextrose is usually used for the addition of heat and is used to treat hypoglycemia. When administered together with insulin by phleboclysis, because the synthesis of glucogen must be joined with potassium, thus the potassium enter into cell to make the concentration of potassium-plasma decreased, the dextrose injection can be used for the treatment of hyperpotassemia. Dextrose injection is administered fast can make tissue dehydrate, so the product can be used as a dehydrating agent. Dextrose is main material which can maintain and adjust osmotic pressure of peritoneum dialysate.
